Sewing Machine Cake

I began decorating cakes 7 years ago, but this sewing machine cake was my ultimate challenge.
This cakes started off as just a board, pipes, cereal treats and gumpaste. I also made the button dish, thread and the pin cushion on the same day.
I had to start making all those items 5 days before it was actually due. On the 4th day I baked the cake and crumb-coated it. Once it set for a few I covered the cake in white fondant and covered the top of the sewing machine part in black fondant. Then I attached it back to the board/cake.
After the cake was put back together I started to add the finishing touches to it. My customer was so happy to see the cake when she came to pick it up. I was so happy that she loved it because this was my first time making this kind of cake.
A message to all beginner decorators... Take on all challenges... It makes you a better decorator.
Thank you Tashia, Nice work. Very good advice too :-) Lorelie
