Krazy About Cake!

I started Decorating when I was very young. My mom and I would bake for all the Holidays and Birthdays. As I grew up and had children I would make cupcakes and cakes for their school functions and family special occasions and events.
I started decorating professionally in 2009 as I was out of work so I went to Michaels and took the cake decorating classes. My love for decorating grew and I started learning more and more on my own and from local and online classes.
I started to work on having a home based business and found out this was not allowed in Florida. I started to contact the state representatives to see if I could get the law changed. I had succeeded in getting the Cottage Food Act that became law which was passed on July 1, 2011. I contacted the Speaker of the House in Tallahassee and he pushed the bill through to law. Information regarding the new law can be found at www.freshfromflorida.com/fs/
Living in Florida provides me a great business with destination brides. Usually very small parties up to 50 people. Everyone loves beach theme cakes so I make a lot of cakes with shells made from chocolate and decorated to the brides theme color. I have also made character cakes for birthdays or a special event for corporations.
Being able to bake from home helps me to supplement my retirement income and gives me joy to make someone a cake and see how happy they are with it.
Since 2009 and to date I have taken advanced decorating, pulled and blown sugar classes and sculpting classes. I love youtube.com and Craftsy for learning new techniques.
Thank you for reading my bio and I wish you to have a Sweet Life!

Thank You Barbara for a GREAT story. Wow I am so impressed that you were able to get the Cottage Law passed and made it possible for you and others to legally bake and sell cakes from home. Way to go! Love your beach theme wedding cake and the adorable dog cake. You are an inspiration to others :-)
