Kettle Cake

The story behind this Kettle Cake:

It took me down the memory lane when as a child I would play with dolls and have tea parties. Just recently I had a dream that once again I was a little girl playing with my dolls and having a tea party with my child hood friends. I remember my mother making tea for us that I would put in the kettle and pour it in the cups. Who knew that time would fly so soon and here I am today recalling my past. So I came up with the idea of baking a cake that looked like a kettle from the past with roses on it.

My Kettle Cake:

The flavor is Vanilla and the filling is of peach and black berry. I just wanted to be creative so I gave a layer of each. I made the gum paste roses to put on the cake as the kettle I played with as a little girl had roses on it. Making gum paste flowers takes a long time and once the flowers are made it has to be left to dry so the petals don’t break. Then I airbrush or paint the flower and using a brush I add pearl dust to give it a shiny look. These flowers can later be stored in an air tight container for later use. I just love working with gum paste.

My Passion:

Cake baking and decorating is my passion. As the saying goes “Imagination is more important than knowledge”… so here I use more of my imagination creating cakes as I never did go to any culinary school. I watch You tube videos and learn from others just to improve my skills… What could be more fun than cake decorating… It’s an Art that I thoroughly enjoy. My son who is 11 years old knows so much about cakes and the art work and gives me a helping hand at times. This could be a wonderful profession for those who love baking and cake decorating. I will never stop dreaming my dreams as one day I want to have my bakery called Meena’s Magic.

Beyond Belief!
by: Ella

Thanks, Meena, for sharing this amazing cake--hard to believe this is and edible creation! I love the flowers--obviously all hand-made. You do such lovely work.

The teapot is most original, and the blackberry filling was especially delicious. Keep up the amazing creativity!

Complimenting this cake in words would be an injustice with the efforts and hard work of Meena. I am not getting words from vocabulary storage to compliment, this is like "THE WONDER OF THE CAKE WORLD".

Your achievement is an example to us all & to all the cake makers. You are an example of commitment and hard work.

Meena I congratulate you and wish you the best as you embark on your next exciting adventure.
