Gift for my brother


My name is Inoka and I have been decorating cakes for fifteen years. This is my hobby and I love decorating cakes.

After my schooling I wanted to learn about cake decorating so I went to my first decorating class in 1994. I didn't have much time to do that because of my higher education. But after two or three years I went to my second class to study wedding cake structures.

From that day I started to bake snd decorate not as a career but whenever I could find a time to create a new design.

I made this deign for my brothers wedding. It was three tiered creation, the bottom one was vanilla with vanilla cream icing. First I started to make gum paste flowers. I made Roses, Daisy's and Stephanotis flowers with Ivy leaves and various other kinds of leaves.

I made gum paste using tylos powder and coloured roses to match the Saree's of the bridesmaids and the dress of the flower girls. After making all the flowers I started decorate. All cakes were covered with fondant icing and then they were decorated with royal icing.

It was the most difficult task. I used 01 tip to do my lattice work and the arch work. That tip was so tiny and the royal icing started getting dry quickly because of it took more time to complete that.

Then I arranged all the flowers top of each one and another flower arrangement for the last pillar with the couple. I set the mirror with pillars and glued it and using a white net I covered all the pillars. Finally all the cakes were set on the top of the mirror and the other two set on the top of the pillars.

The flower arrangement with the couple was set on the highest place. This was gift for my only brother.

Now I would like to start a small cake decorating business as a stay at home mom with small kids. But I don't know how to start. When I searched the internet and web sites about cake decorating, I found Wedding Cakes For You's web page and decided to upload this special cake. I would appreciate comments as it will help me to have more courage to give this a try.

This inspired an arrangement for a cake that I have to do in September. It will be a 3 tier with 4 surrounding cakes on pedestals. Faith in yourself and the Universe sends you what you need!

Though this is your beginning it shows like a professional work. Good idea to select this type of part time work as it full fill 2-3 things to your life as a hobby, career and also a great help for your friends and relatives. We missed the chance to taste your cakes as we are far away. Anyway I wish you all the very best !
