First fondant wedding cake

Hi, my name is Teresa and this is the story behind my first fondant wedding cake. I have been baking and decorating for about 4 months now and I have found that it has become a passion for me.
I had owned a porcelain doll shop for 12 years and I find that cake decorating is an art somewhat like doll sculpting and painting. When you are finished, you have great pride in what you have accomplished.
There is a sweet couple that just got married at the court house in our small town. They probably have never seen a fondant covered cake with roses, flowers and all the pretty things that go into a design such as this. I heard that they were going to have a small reception at their home, so I decided to surprise them with a fancy fondant confection as a gift.
The bottom tier is 10 inch round with
white layers and raspberry buttercream filling. I covered it in white fondant with a pearl border. The second tier is a chocolate almond flavor with chocolate Kahlua buttercream. I covered it with black fondant and wrapped a pink and black polka dot ribbon around it.
I then made the top tier with a white cake and strawberry buttercream filling and covered it with white fondant, put the same ribbon that I wrapped around the second tier and also put a pearl border around that.
TIP: When I made the pearl border I found it much easier to put the pearl dust into the pearl mold before putting the gumpaste in. This made it a lot easier for the pearls to come out with less chance of getting pearl dust all over the cake.
Fondant Flowers
The lily's were made with a 50-50 mixture of fondant and gumpaste and the calla lily's with the same.
This was my first transporting experience. My husband drove. All of you I'm sure can remember(your first time)I'm happy to say we are still married!!! Ha!! The newly married couple were thrilled with their gift and when they cut into it were very surprised with the rainbow effect of the layers.
