Elegant Wedding Cake

This elegant wedding cake is one of my favorites and it was a great inspiration to me while making it.
A bride and groom couple came to me and asked me to create a vision that would represent each one of them in a special way.
They already had an idea in mind. That is where the challenge came in. I used their ideas and represented them each in a unique way.
I decided to utilize the brides favorite flowers and the grooms favorite color for the theme. They chose the filling of this elegant design together.
The Cake
The flavor was vanilla. Caramel and strawberries made up the filling. Then I covered the each tier with butter cream to act as a glue to hold the fondant on.
After the prep work was done the inspiration came to me and the magic began.
Gumpaste Flowers and Pearls
I stared with the flowers which are made out of gumpaste. It's great to have handmade flowers to give a natural look. To get the shape you can use a cutter in the shape of petals or leaves. The best part is that these flowers are edible.
I painted the gumpaste flowers with pearl dust. To obtain the blue color I mixed a tsp. of lime juice with the coloring and that created the blue color I needed.
The pearls were also made from gumpaste and colored with the plain pearl dust to give them a shimmery look.
I used royal icing for the top decoration of the cake. The magic really began when I put all the pieces together to create the tower. After all the decorations were placed, it came alive.
We boxed the wedding cake and delivered it.
The most important tip of all: never forget to bring your tools and extra decorations just in case their is a mishap and to put the finishing touches on at the event.
Another Tip: When putting your tiers together use wooden sticks or dowels to give it more support..
ROYAL ICING RECIPE:2 cups powder sugar
1 egg white
1 tsp vanilla
In a bowl put egg whites and sugar and mix add vanilla and mix again. If the icing is very sticky Add more sugar for firm peak.
I hope you enjoy my elegant wedding cake design.
