Dragon Cake

Once Upon a Time....
I have dreamed of opening a bakery for as long as I can remember..I am always ready for what ever challenge someone throws my way. This Dragon cake is my latest and best ( In my opinion ) creation that I have made. It is 100% made from scratch.
The dragon's body is rice krispy treats, and he is entirely hand sculpted and hand painted and covered in fondant which was also hand-sculpted. The old spell book is cake, is iced in Buttercream icing, and sprayed with an airbrush for a weathered look.
The woman that asked for a "dragon" cake, gave me free reign to decorate however I wanted to..I love when I get to do that. So here it is...my sleepy dragon..I hope you like it.
Memories of Grandma's Cakes and Pies
I have such wonderful memories of visiting my granny..the house always smelled of fresh warm cakes and pies that she had baked all day long in her wood cook stove.
I remember that no one ever left her home feeling hungry,in fact, most left so full they couldn't eat anything else if they had to! She was the most wonderful cook and baker I have ever known, and I try really hard to follow in her footsteps.
I have quite the journey yet to go, but I know that she is with me every step of the way. I use a lot of her recipes in my baking, and never have I gotten a complaint..just requests for more! I can't imagine the things granny could have shown me, had she been around to learn how to use Fondant and Gum paste and that sort of thing...her cakes were extraordinary without those things!
My goals as a baker are to someday open a bakery of my own and succeed as a known decorator/artist..and to have my future grandchildren share memories of me that are at least half as wonderful as the ones my granny left with me.
Tanita what a beautiful story. Inspired by Grandma. Wow! I love that. Thank you so much for entering your dragon cake into the cake decorating contest. It is just awesome!!!
