I made my daughter's wedding cake and had to travel 6 hours to the venue. I highly recommend purchasing a Cake Safe. I placed the fully assembled cake in my Cake Safe, placed it in the front seat of my car and delivered it. It didn't move an inch. The Cake Safe kept it clean & insulated also. Good luck with your business.

Thanks for the tip. They are nice but most folks don't want to spend so much. I think it is worth it if you do a lot of cakes though.

Hi Kristen, Honestly I rarely use Crisco. The only time i would use it is for decorative flowers. So I don't have that much experience with whipping it. I can ask my cake peeps in my group thought and see if they have ideas for you. Why not butter? Or maybe half and half?

Wedding cakes by: Kristin Koss
Hi Lorelie thank you I'm making my nephews wedding cake for this October 8th and the recipe I made for Nick and Megan to taste was the buttercream icing from Wilton it's the one with 1 cup of solid vegetable shortening I use in the blue can I used 1/2 teaspoon each of the butter flavoring vanilla flavoring and pure cane confectioners sugar I teaspoon of meringue powder pinch of salt and water that's the one they like I took a cake decorating class. The teacher said you do not want to beat the crisco for more then 6 minutes I have made it with have real butter and crisco shortening and I used whole milk instead of the water they didn't like it. I'm making a 3 tire cake 3 12" 2 inch deep for the very bottom . 2- 10" 3 inch deep for the middle and 2- 8" 3 inch deep for the very top there having fresh flowers on the cake. My other questions was what do you put in the middle so the cardboards doesn't stick to the other cakes i heard someone said graham crackers is what they used on top. About how much should I put on. they don't want to see it on the frosting. What kind of dowels do you prefer best. It's going to be all round cakes. I have a picture of the cake they want me to make I put it on your facebook I believe it's the one that shows the stackers. From Kristin Koss
